15 Celebrities Who’ve Beaten Cancer

When celebrities announce to the public they’ve contracted an illness or disease it helps to spread awareness. Check out this gallery of celebrities who’ve gone to battle with this nasty disease and are now able to live their lives to the fullest once again!

1. Lance Armstrong

In 1996 Lance was diagnosed with stage 3 testicular cancer. At the time of diagnosis it had already spread to his lungs, abdomen and even his brain. The cyclist underwent surgery to remove his testicle and received chemotherapy treatment at Indiana University Medical Center. He was declared cancer free in 1997 and has since founded the Livestrong Foundation, which gives support to cancer patients.

2. Sharon Osbourne

Osbourne was very vocal about her battle with colon cancer, for which she was diagnosed in 2002. Her diagnoses had initially seemed to be easily treatable but was later revealed to have spread to her lymph nodes. Osbourne eventually beat the cancer and soon after founded the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program.

3. Edie Falco

The former Sopranos star was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003. She kept the information regarding her battle from the media until the following year. She successfully underwent chemotherapy to treat the cancer and in 2005 went on to adopt her first child.

4. Christina Applegate

Applegate was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 and underwent a double mastectomy. One year later the actress was cancer free and went on to start the Right Action foundation to help women get MRI’s for early detection.

5. Tom Green

Diagnosed with testicular cancer in early 2000, his successful treatment was documented in the 1 hour MTV special, The Tom Green Cancer Special. The show received critical acclaim for its raw and vulnerable look at the comedian’s battle.
